Dear Mr. Davenport:

It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as the October recipient of the Costa Mesa Mayor's Award. You will be recognized for this achievement at the October 6, 2003, meeting of the Costa Mesa City Council to be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

You have faithfully served the City of Costa Mesa as a Planning Commissioner, from 1980 to 2003—an impressive record number of years. The City is particularly appreciative of your dedication, work, knowledge, leadership, and your ability to keep your sense of humor intact on countless planning issues during those many, many years of public meetings. You were recently chosen to receive an Award of Merit in the category of Distinguished Leadership: Layperson, by the American Planning Association. You hold a special place of honor in the City's history.

In addition to your years as a Planning Commissioner, you have been involved in many other community organizations and activities. Your commitment to our community is admirable, and most deserving of recognition through the Mayor's Award program.

On behalf of the City of Costa Mesa, let me express our appreciation and personal thanks for your outstanding dedication and service.
