Ms. Brittany Rausch

Dear Brittany:

It is my sincerest pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as the March 2004 recipient of Costa Mesa's Mayor's Award! The Mayor's Award Program was designed to recognize and appreciate individuals in the community who have displayed exemplary qualities of leadership, community involvement, and volunteerism.

Brittany, I believe you are a shining example of these qualities. Starting Pump Girls to raise awareness and funding for young people living with Juvenile Diabetes displayed admirable initiative and compassion. Using your illness to reach out to others with Juveniles Diabetes has provided a positive outlet for their concerns while raising funds for insulin pumps for those who cannot afford to purchase them. You have touched the community by supporting those with a special need and by serving as an example to others with your dedication, generosity, and initiative. The combined talent and commitment of the Pump Girls have captured the hearts and attention of people around the country. The three of you have enjoyed success, all while managing your studies and the pressure of school, as well as your own illness.

As you have already confirmed with my staff, we would like to publicly honor you at the City Council meeting of Monday, March 1, 2004. The meeting will take place in Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m., at Costa Mesa City Hall, 77 Fair Drive. I look forward to meeting you and your family.

Thank you for your service to the community and congratulations on the success of your extraordinary organization!
