Dear Mr. Graham:

It is my sincerest pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as the May 2004 recipient of Costa Mesa's Mayor's Award! The Mayor's Award Program was designed to recognize and appreciate individuals in the community who have displayed exemplary qualities of leadership, community involvement, and volunteerism.

There are numerous ways in which you have displayed these qualities. Your time spent voluntarily leading the residents of Costa Mesa and other interested participants on informative tours of Fairview Park has contributed invaluably to the City and especially to the Fairview Friends Committee. Your knowledge and enthusiasm about the park is evident and has raised awareness of this 208-acre gem.

As "Bicycle Bob," your familiarity with Costa Mesa's and the County's bikeway system, and your love of cycling has earned you respect from other Costa Mesa cyclists. You have been an active participant at many Council meetings, particularly when issues concerned bikeways and bridges.

Your participation in this year's City Arbor Day is another example of your willingness to volunteer and help others. The assistance you provided by installing trees helped beautify Costa Mesa and ensure that the City remained certified as a "Tree City, U.S.A."

As you have already confirmed with my staff, we would like to publicly honor you at the City Council meeting of Monday, May 3, 2004. The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m. at Costa Mesa City Hall, 77 Fair Drive. We look forward to your attendance and please feel free to invite your family members.

Thank you for your civic commitment, your efforts to keep our community beautiful and our residents informed about the value of our natural environment!
