Mr. Ronnie Guyer
Field Representative
Office of Assemblyman Van Tran
1503 South Coast Drive, Suite 203
Costa Mesa, California 92626

Dear Mr. Guyer:

Congratulations! It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as the recipient of the Costa Mesa Mayor's Award for November 2007. The Mayor's Award Program was established to recognize and appreciate members of the community who have displayed qualities of leadership, community involvement, and volunteerism.

As you know, on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, you and your co-workers from Assemblyman Van Tran's office were at a local restaurant enjoying a farewell lunch for summer interns when you noticed a woman choking nearby. Without hesitation you immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver and successfully saved her life.

Heroism is a characteristic you have certainly exemplified throughout your life. You helped carry injured soldiers to safety during the Vietnam War and in 1982 you performed life-saving CPR on an injured 2 year old.

On behalf of the City Council, I would like to express my sincerest appreciation for your outstanding actions. I would also like to publicly honor you at the November 20 City Council meeting. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers, Costa Mesa City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. Please confirm your attendance at this meeting to Chris Goldsworthy at (714) 754-5327. You are welcome to bring family, friends and co-workers to this presentation.
Thank you for your dedication to helping others.
