Purchasing AwardOn July 20, 2010 the City of Costa Mesa, Purchasing Division received the 15th Annual "Achievement of Excellence in Procurement" award. This is the tenth consecutive year that Costa Mesa has received this prestigious award. Costa Mesa is one of only 38 government agencies in California and one of only 56 cities in the United States to receive this national award. In addition, the score achieved is in the top 20% of all government agencies receiving the award in the United States.

This award was designed to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement. The program is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership. The annual award is earned by those organizations that demonstrate excellence in procurement by obtaining a high score on a rating of benchmark criteria. Each year the criteria measured for the award are modified to provide new challenges and opportunities for professional growth and to continually raise the bar for excellence in public purchasing.

Our goal is to ensure that Costa Mesa taxpayers receive the best value on every purchase and that all expenditures are conducted in a manner that preserves the public trust. Towards that goal, we encourage qualified vendors to participate in doing business with the City of Costa Mesa.

The City of Costa Mesa Procurement staff is dedicated to the principles of competition and fairness. Purchasing operates under the auspices of federal, state and local law. Purchasing is strictly prohibited from taking any actions, which do not reflect the ideals of honor and integrity in the performance of their work. The offering of gratuities or promises of future employment by vendors to any City employee is prohibited.
