The Network for Homeless Solutions is a collaborative effort among city staff, volunteers, community
churches, and nonprofit and private organizations to address homelessness in Costa Mesa.
Using a humanistic approach, homeless individuals are identified and directed to resources that will best assist them in the interest of removing individuals from the city’s streets, parks, private properties, and other areas of transient activity.
Since 2011, the City of Costa Mesa has proactively focused on developing a multi-faceted program for Costa Mesa homeless residents, including assisting with housing options for homeless residents, creating a social service registry, hiring outreach workers to work closely with the homeless, establishing a network of nonprofit and faith-based organizations, and redirecting new homeless individuals in our community to services in their city or state of origin.
The Network for Homeless Solutions works closely with the Costa Mesa Police Department to identify those individuals who engage in criminal conduct in a concerted effort to mitigate their impacts to the community. Since 2012, the City of Costa Mesa has created a number of civility laws that are designed to deter illegal and nuisance conduct.
Recently, the Network for Homeless Solutions has launched a collaborative effort with local businesses and property owners to address criminal activity or code concerns on commercial properties. Outreach efforts include meeting directly with property and business owners and distributing informational materials specifically addressing issues related to commercial properties.
