Teach With Us
The City of Costa Mesa Parks and Community Services Department seeks classes that are affordable, innovative, and promote physical and emotional wellness within our community.
If you are interested in teaching a class that aligns with these goals, please review and complete our New Instructor Request Form to learn more about our onboarding process and additional requirements for new instructors.
To align with the development timeline of our recreation magazine, The Spotlight, requests should be submitted at least six to eight months before your desired season.
Please note that submission of the New Instructor Request Form does not guarantee acceptance for immediate onboarding.
Contract Opportunities
On-Site Contractors
On-site contractors are provided indoor or outdoor space at a Costa Mesa community center or park to host their classes.
Please note that indoor space is extremely limited at this time. To help us explore all placement possibilities, include all available days and times on your proposal.
Partnered (Off-Site) Contractors
Partnered contractors hold classes at their own business locations. Enrollment can be processed through both the City and the Contract Instructor, allowing us to support local businesses while offering residents a wider variety of programs.
Typically, beginner-level classes are offered through the City to encourage students to continue learning and advancing with the Contract Instructor as their skills develop.
Submission Deadlines
Planning for each issue of The Spotlight begins up to eight months in advance. New instructors may apply at any time, but applications are usually reviewed after the current season’s production is complete. Depending on timing, approval and scheduling may take one to two seasons. For example, an application submitted in fall may be ready for inclusion in the spring or summer issue.
