Let's Go Costa Mesa rideshare service rolls on to expanded coverage

The City of Costa Mesa is pleased to announce the continued success and expansion of Let’s Go Costa Mesa, a FREE, on-demand electric rideshare service operated in partnership with Circuit. Launched as a four-year pilot program through a $1.5 million grant from the State of California’s Clean Mobility Options (CMO) program, the service is growing to better meet community demand and improve access to key destinations.

Due to strong ridership and positive community response, the City is expanding Let’s Go Costa Mesa in three important ways:

  • Fleet Expansion: A fourth electric vehicle has been added to the existing fleet, increasing availability and reducing wait times for riders.
  • Expanded Weekday Hours: Weekday service hours have been extended by two hours per day, now operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. This enhancement provides riders with 40 additional hours of free, on-demand rideshare service each week across all four vehicles.
  • Expanded Service Area: The rideshare boundaries have been extended to include the east side of Newport Boulevard from 18th Street to Santa Isabel Avenue, as well as Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. This expansion connects Costa Mesa residents to a major employment and health-care hub, improving access to medical services and jobs for many in the community.

App Phone Graphic Let’s Go Costa Mesa is designed for short, local trips and operates using a small fleet of zero-emission electric vehicles. Circuit provides the vehicles, including a larger electric van branded as “The Goat,” which seats up to 10 passengers and offers wheelchair and scooter accessibility. The name pays tribute to Costa Mesa’s history as “Goat Hill” and reflects the program’s energetic, resilient, and community-focused spirit.

Funding for the program comes from California’s Clean Mobility Options (CMO) program, part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that uses Cap-and-Trade dollars to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen the economy, and improve public health—particularly in underserved communities.

The project also aligns with the California Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program, which is investing more than $1 billion statewide to accelerate zero-emission transportation, expand clean mobility infrastructure, and support workforce development.

Clean Mobility Options funding is available to eligible disadvantaged and low-income communities and tribal governments throughout California to increase access to safe, reliable, convenient, and affordable transportation choices.
