Costa Mesa – New Waiver Application Requirement

Please note:  The City can no longer accept waiver applications that are not accompanied by documentation showing the applicant is currently compliant with State regulations (SB 1383). This means your business must currently be subscribed to the recycling and/or organic waste recycling program you are requesting a City-issued waiver for.

State regulations required your businesses or multifamily property to have SB 1383 compliant recycling and organic waste recycling programs in place on January 1, 2022. We have now passed the point where we can allow non-compliance without following the State requirement that we issue notices of violations and penalties when we become aware of non-compliance. To avoid these challenges, for both the City and your business, we have made this change to our waiver application acceptance policy. We apologize for any inconvenience this presents.
