Costa Mesa Sustainability

AWARDS

The City of Costa Mesa is committed to environmental stewardship, community wellbeing and economic prosperity.

Sustainability means accounting for environmental, social and fiscal considerations in decision-making and operations, while prioritizing equity and community resilience.

Sustainability is a key goal of the City of Costa Mesa, with responsibility for implementing related programs and initiatives shared across various departments. These efforts aim to reduce the City's carbon footprint, increase resource efficiency, minimize waste generation, and enhance both the natural and built environment. City departments collaborate with community-based organizations, regional and state agencies, and the business community to promote a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable Costa Mesa.

The City's sustainability initiatives focus on advancing local climate action, building resilience, improving public health, fostering inclusion and equity, and promoting sustainable and smart city principles throughout the community.

The City of Costa Mesa is excited to invite the community to an upcoming Open House to explore the City’s first-ever Climate Action & Adaptation Plan (CAAP) and discuss the City’s existing Environmental Justice policies, two important efforts shaping a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable future.

The CAAP serves as a roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for climate impacts, and implement meaningful actions that benefit our neighborhoods, businesses, and environment. At the same time, the City is committed to advancing Environmental Justice by ensuring that all community members have access to a healthy, safe, and sustainable environment.

At the Open House, attendees will have the opportunity to:

· Learn about key climate actions being proposed for Costa Mesa

· Explore how these strategies will support a more sustainable future

· Share feedback on the draft Climate Actions

· Review and provide input on the City’s current Environmental Justice policies

Whether you're passionate about sustainability, curious about how climate action impacts your daily life, or simply want to be part of shaping Costa Mesa’s future, this is your chance to get involved.

We hope to see you there!
